Currently active in Orange County only!
I have experience teaching beginning to intermediate violin students of all ages! I currently provide private lessons to students aged 6–15, as well as adult students, both in person and online.*
For beginners, we will focus on creating a solid technical foundation. This includes, but is not limited to:
Healthy posture.
Holding the violin and bow.
Bow technique + tone production.
Music theory fundamentals (basic note reading, music vocabulary, and ear training).
For intermediate-level students, our first lesson would be an evaluation, so I can better understand how to help you best. From there, we would develop and refine your technique, and spend more time finding ways to develop your musicality on a deeper level. This will involve learning basic music history for context, learning more nuanced aspects regarding physical technique, and creating a deeper personal connection with your repertoire.
Regardless of your level, I create lesson plans tailored to each student's needs and goals. At the end of each lesson, I also provide detailed notes to guide practice at home to help ensure progress and guide students towards independence. And, of course, if you have any questions about your practice throughout the week, you can always reach out to me!
For studio policies, please contact me directly.
*If you are completely new to the violin, the first month of lessons must be in person (regardless of age). Please contact me for more details!
Chamber music is a great way to develop your musicianship with your colleagues and friends! My focus is to develop skills in collaborative musicianship, healthy and clear communication, rehearsal strategies, active listening, and performance preparation. While I would be there as a coach to help guide rehearsals, my goal is to have students take initiative and ownership over the course of their rehearsal time. Part of my teaching style involves asking questions to encourage independent critical thinking, so that I can guide students towards self-sufficiency, confidence, independence, and leadership in their rehearsal processes.
For coaching policies, please contact me directly.
*Prior playing experience required in order to participate.
I am able to provide orchestral coaching for youth orchestras of beginning to intermediate levels. In sectionals, students will receive group instruction, assistance with bowings and fingerings for technically difficult passages, and guidance in developing musical expression and artistic intention within the context of playing in an ensemble.

When it comes to teaching music, teaching the student discipline, good technique, adaptability, and a good ear are crucial for the student’s success and future. However, my hope is that all of these principles are founded on a genuine passion and love for music and life. To learn without a sense of purpose, heart, or intent would be a disservice to the student and their music. One of my goals is to foster a love in them that develops and transforms every aspect of their musicianship and who they are as a person, and to help inspire and motivate students to be the best musician and person they can be. Development of one’s music begins with development of the self. I also believe that when a student’s character is shaped by the genuine love and care of a good teacher, their hearts and minds will be developed in such a way that they will be better equipped to create music that not only shows their technical proficiency, but also music that speaks and communicates with the audience effectively.
